Have you met Glenfiddich 15?

Every whisky drinker has enjoyed Glenfiddich 12 at one time or another. But have you taken the time to meet its older brother, Glenfiddich 15? There are a lot of amazing aspects to it that haven't gotten the attention that it demands.

To start, Glenfiddich's amazing whisky is aged 15 years in European sherry butts, American bourbon barrels and Virgin American oak barrels. Then, these already delicious whiskies are then transferred to Glenfiddich's custom Solera vat. This is where the magic really happens.

The Solera process was not created by Glenfiddich, but malt master Brian Kinsman has taken the process and made it his own. Glenfiddich's Solera vat is made of oak, can contain over 30,000 liters of whisky and has not been more than half empty since 1998, the year Glenfiddich first adopted the Solera process. Due to the vat never going below half empty before being topped back up, there is very likely some of the original whisky from 1998 still inside the vat. This allows for incredibly consistent product year after year. If you want to know more about the Solera process, I'll be releasing a different blog in the future that dives deeper into this awesome innovation.

Once the whisky is removed from the Solera vat, it ends up in oak marrying tuns where it begins to become more layered and complex, developing the smooth, distinctive notes that the Glenfiddich 15 is famous for.

As if all of this wasn't cool enough, $2 from every bottle of Glenfiddich 15 sold is donated to Wounded Warriors Canada. This program has raised nearly $1 million since its inception! Buy yourself a bottle today to not only enjoy the immensely satisfying Solera method, but also donate to an amazing cause!
